Are you eligible to vote in the October elections for Mayor, Councillors and School Trustees? Is your name on the current list of electors?

If you are not sure you can find out by calling 604-514-4585 or visiting the Administration Department (second floor), Langley City Hall, 20399 Douglas Crescent, Langley B.C. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays).
Advance elector registrations will be accepted at Langley City Hall until 4:30 pm on August 23, 2022. Except for registration on voting days, elector registrations will not be accepted during the period August 24, 2022, to October 15, 2022.

ELECTOR QUALIFICATIONS

RESIDENT ELECTORS:

  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day (October 15, 2022); and
  • a Canadian citizen; and
  • a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and
  • a resident of the City of Langley; and
  • not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election and not otherwise disqualified by law.

NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY ELECTORS:

  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day (October 15, 2022); and
  • a Canadian citizen; and
  • a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and
  • a registered owner of real property in the City of Langley for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration; and
  • the only persons who are registered owners of the property, either as joint tenants or tenants in common, are individuals who are not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust; and
  • not entitled to register as a resident elector; and
  • not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election and not otherwise disqualified by law; and
  • if there is more than one registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector.

MAIL BALLOT VOTING

For the first time in a City of Langley local government election, qualified electors will have the option to apply to vote by mail ballot.

In order to obtain a mail ballot, qualified electors must submit an application to the Chief Election Officer. The Application to Vote by Mail is available on the City’s website or can be requested from the Administration Department at Langley City Hall by calling 604-514-4585.
