The City of Langley is updating its Development Cost Charges (DCC) Bylaw. DCCs are fees collected from developers to help fund the cost of growth-related infrastructure and parks.
Under Section 559 of the Local Government Act, a municipality can establish DCCs, which are charges levied on new development to help pay for transportation, drainage, water, and sanitary infrastructure, as well as parkland acquisition and development.
The City has collected DCCs on development since 2002. DCCs are collected on all development that imposes a new capital cost burden on the municipality.
DCCs are collected at time of subdivision or building permit.
