The Financial Plan provides detailed funding requirements and financial priorities and issues over the next five years. It allows for an in-depth look into Langley City's plans for investment in infrastructure and other services, along with the costs involved.

Review the current engineering and infrastructure projects in planning or under construction. They include project locations as well as brief descriptions of the work being done.

Major Current Projects

This section includes a list of some of Langley City's biggest infrastructure and amenity projects being planned for implementation soon.

SkyTrain Expo Line Extension to Langley City

Surrey-Langley SkyTrain Webpage
An extension of the Expo Line from King George Station in Surrey to downtown Langley City is currently in the planning stage at TransLink. These plans envision two stations within Langley City: one at Willowbrook Mall near the intersection of 196 Street and Fraser Highway and one in the downtown core near the intersection of Industrial Avenue and 203 Street. The City of Langley is currently in the process of updating its Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw to prepare for SkyTrain by updating its land use plans and policies. This will allow us to maximize the benefits of SkyTrain in our community by generating more housing choices, jobs, and transportation options around stations. The official project website is regularly updated with public engagement opportunities and additional project details.

Brydon Park Master Plan

Brydon Park is located at the northwest corner of 53 Avenue and 198 Street just north of the Nicomekl River and serves a rapidly densifying residential community. The City has recently awarded the Brydon Park Capital Project to Western Watershed Design Inc. to upgrade and expand Brydon Park. The main features of the project are tree clearing to provide good sight lines, a new trail network, and an off-leash dog park. The project is scheduled to be complete in the spring of 2020.

208 Street Improvements

More information to come.

Fraser Highway One-Way Improvements

The one-way section of Fraser Highway between 204 Street and 206 Street downtown anchors the heart of Langley City's historic core. The purpose of the improvement project is to renew this section, increase the sidewalk widths to improve pedestrian areas, and enhance an inviting experience for businesses and visitors.

Phase One: Consultation Summary Report & Appendices
Phase Two: Consultation Summary Report & Appendices
To date, two rounds of consultation have been completed. Phase One sought input from residents and businesses on what they like and what they would improve in the existing street, while Phase Two asked for feedback on design concepts featuring different parking and public realm options.

Glover Road Improvements

Glover Road is a significant arterial in Langley City, as both a key link between downtown and Kwantlen Polytechnic University, along with the Trans-Canada Highway. The City's improvement plans include new protected bike lanes, sidewalks, street lighting, and landscaping.

Grade Crescent Improvements

Grade Crescent Improvements Option 1
Grade Crescent Improvements Option 2

Grade Crescent is the only direct connection between 200 Street and 208 Street south of the Nicomekl River and is also home to HD Stafford Middle School. The City of Langley has developed two conceptual designs for upgrades to the street that both include new sidewalks, separated bike lanes or multi-use paths, lighting, and pedestrian safety improvements such as crosswalks. Due to the high costs of the project it will not be completed until sufficient funds can be allocated in the annual capital budget against other competing priorities within the City.
