Langley City is dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all camp participants regardless of exceptionality (support needs or extra support needs is the term that encompasses all) or behaviour. The Participant Inclusion Form is intended for parents, guardians, and caregivers to provide information to the day camp team to help us best support participants with exceptionalities, additional needs, or disabilities.

Langley City is committed to supporting children with developmental disabilities or delays to successfully participate in Langley City Day Camp programs. If your child requires extra support, please contact the Recreation Supervisor at 604.514.2867.

Daycamp FAQs

What can my child expect every day?
Children should come to camp ready to try a variety of new activities and experiences both indoors and out! All camps incorporate plenty of opportunities to explore and create, as well as unstructured free playtime. Specific themes and activities are subject to change, and some may be weather-dependent.

My child doesn't know anyone, will they be okay?
Many of our campers don’t know anyone when they first come to camp. We emphasize the importance of friendships and encourage campers to make connections with new and old friends.

What should I send with my child to camp?

  • bathing suit (camp-dependant)
  • healthy lunch
  • snacks
  • sunscreen and hat (weather-dependant)
  • towel
  • water bottle
  • weather-appropriate clothing and footwear for messy and outdoor play

 Do not send

  • money
  • electronics
  • phone
  • valuables

Can I bring nuts to daycamp?
Our daycamps are “nut-free zones”, meaning campers are requested not to bring nuts or nut products to any camp. This is for the safety of all campers.

Should I send my child’s phone or other electronics?
Electronics can be a distraction for all participants and are discouraged at our camps. We think it is important for all campers to be active and engaged, and we support them to make connections with other children at camp.

Can I register my child for just one day of camp?
Unfortunately, we have cancelled all daily daycamp registration.

Will my child go swimming? (SUMMER CAMPS ONLY)
Every Friday the Funtastic Daycamp will swim at Al Anderson Memorial Pool.

Will my child go on a field trip?
Those in the Funtastic Daycamp will go on field trips.

What if my child doesn’t like camp?
Who doesn’t like camp? We have tons of fun and find that once campers are settled in, they usually don’t want to leave. However, if they aren’t having fun, talk to us. We can recommend other camps or provide a pro-rated refund for the remainder of the camp.

What is Extended Play, Before and After?
Need more schedule flexibility on days your child is in a daycamp? Take advantage of this program offered from 7:00 - 8:30 am and 3:00 - 6:00 pm at an additional cost.

My child has a support worker at school, do they need one at camp?
The City of Langley is committed to supporting children with developmental disabilities or delays to successfully participate in Langley City Daycamp programs. If your child requires extra support, please contact the Recreation Supervisor at 604-514-2867.

Can I send a support worker or aid with my child?
If you have your own support worker, we are happy to have them within our program. However, the support worker needs to complete a Police Information Check. Please contact us two weeks before the camp starts so we can provide you with the paperwork. This police check is needed for any adult participating in the program with the child (including parents).

On the first day camp, the leaders will meet with the support worker to discuss how to work with the participant.

What if I cannot get there to pick my child up on time after a day camp?
You may be subject to a late pick-up fee. If you need some flexibility in your schedule, consider our Extended Play options.

What is your refund policy?

Unless otherwise specified,

  • If less than 5 business days’ notice is given, 50% of the fee will be issued
  • If notice is given on or after the start date of a program, a refund will not be issued
