FALL YOUTH PROGRAMS UPDATE 

Fall youth programs are back at Timms Community Centre starting next Tuesday October 27th! Programs are drop in based and open to youth in grades 6-12 at no-cost!

Fall Youth Programs

Please see below for more information regarding each program. 

 

Basketball Drop in

Practice makes perfect! Work on your shooting, passing, dribbling and whatever else you want! Basketball drop in is for all skill levels! 

Tuesdays 
3:00pm-4:30pm
Timms Community Centre
Enter through north side gym entrance  

Open to youth in grades 6-12 
Drop in - no registration required 
Programs are provided at no-cost to participants

Basketball drop in Covid-19 measures
2 youth per basketball hoop.
Sanitization stations are available.
Youth will sanitize hands upon entering the facility.
Equipment is sanitized before and after youth come into contact with it.
Youth will only use their own basketball. Sharing is not allowed at this time.
Maximum 12 youth permitted. After 12 youth are in the gym, a waitlist will be started
Youth that are sick are asked to stay home and will not be permitted to join the program
Only individual skill development is allowed. Games and scrimmages are not allowed at this time
 

Artistic Expression

Express yourself with art as the medium! Each week we do different styles and methods of art and focus on letting out our thought and emotions. This is a safe space for youth to relax, talk and learn!

Youth will stay physically distanced.
Youth will not share materials and equipment.
Youth will sanitize hands upon entering facility.
Materials and Equipment will be sanitized before and after use.
Maximum 10 youth. After 10 youth are in the program, a waitlist will be started.
Youth that are sick are asked to stay home and will not be permitted to join the program.

Teen Time

Teen Time is back at Timms! Hang out with your friends and have fun in all our activities! Teen Time is not taking place in the games room with access to gaming tables, gaming systems and other awesome activities! not only does it have access to the games room, but also the gym for games and sports!

Covid-19 measures related to basketball and open gym drop in will be enforced during gym time.
 

Open Gym drop in

Free for all youth! No pass or payment required

Run, jump, sprint, shoot and wack with this outdoor sports drop in! We will be offering use of our outdoor sports spaces at Douglas Park for drop in sports. Play basketball, tennis, hockey, badminton, soccer and more with the fresh air to energize you. This program is weather dependent. In the event of inclement weather this program may be cancelled. Open Gym Covid-19 Measures
Equipment will not be shared.
Equipment will be sanitized before and after use.
Youth will remain physically distanced in all sports.
The same measures for basketball drop in will be enforced when playing basketball. 
Maximum of 18 youth permitted. After 18 youth are in the gym, a waitlist will be started.

 

 

Youth Night

 

Youth Night is back! Timms Community Center will be available to youth only on Saturday nights. Hand out with friends and come join us for a night of fun! Video games, gym games, art crafts and more can be done during youth nights!

Doors open at 7:00pm and close at 7:45pm. No in and out privileges during the program time. A maximum of 20 youth are permitted on a first come, first serve basis.

Babysitter Training (11-16yrs)

BABYSITTER TRAINING (12-17yrs)- COED

Developed by the Canadian Safety Council, this course teaches the most up to date information concerning childcare and safety.  Course content includes:  basic first-aid, emergency procedures, safety, nutrition and responsibilities.  Learn tons of fun games and activities making you the most popular babysitter on the block!  Price includes manual and certificate (upon completion of the program).

Teen Pump (13-16yrs)

Teen Pump (13-16yrs)

Learn the safe and effective techniques in Weight Training for teens.  With proper guidance, youth will learn how to build strength, define their muscles and prevent injuries while using a variety of strength and cardio equipment.  Each participant will receive an individualized training plan based on their individual goals.  Youth who successfully complete the Teen Pump program will be permitted into the Timms Community Centre Weight Room without adult supervision.
