Weight Room & Fitness Schedule

As the health and safety of our customers and staff are of utmost importance we ask for your patience at this time as we implement new policies and procedures required by the Provincial Health Authority in order to keep our doors open and patrons safe.

Please remember:

  • Underground parking will be open starting Monday July 19.
  • Sanitize your hands before entering facilities and before using the equipment.
  • Maintain a physical distance wherever possible.
  • Avoid gathering in groups, even when lining up to enter or exit the building.
  • Avoid touching your face, mouth and nose with your hands;
  • Sanitize all equipment used and put it away before leaving your session.
  • Masks are recommended in all City facilities in all common areas including entryways, hallways, stairways, washrooms.

Booking Information

Location:  Timms Community Centre Gymnasium- 20399 Douglas Recreation Centre.

Registration:  Must pre-register for classes at least 2 hours in advance.  No Drop-ins!  Registration opens one week in advance for all classes and weight room times.

Physical Distancing requirements are in place - participants must remain 3m apart at all times.  Each participant will have their own workout space and must stay within their designated workout space for the duration of the class.

Sanitization:  Participants are required to sanitize their hands upon entry and sanitize all equipment used at the end of the class.

COVID-19 Screening: All participants will be required to complete a COVID-19 screening questions; anyone showing signs/symptoms of illness will not be permitted into the facility.

Changerooms:  Please come dressed for activity- changerooms and showers are not available at this time.  Washrooms are available for participants.

Water Fountains: Please bring a water bottle as fountains are not available at this time.

Meeting/Check-in (gymnasium classes):  Line up at the Northside of Timms Community Centre at the Gymnasium doors.  Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class start to check-in and get your equipment.  Please do not arrive early; doors will open 15 minutes before start time.

Meeting/Check-in (fitness room classes):  Enter through the North entry doors to the facility; proceed directly upstairs to the fitness room to check-in with the instructor.  Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class start to check-in and get your equipment.  Please do not arrive early; entry will not be permitted before 15 minutes to start time.

Meeting/Check-in (Weight Room): Enter through the North entry doors to the facility; Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the appointment time.  Please do not arrive early; entry will not be permitted before 10 minutes to start time.

Class Cancellations:  Cancellations will be posted with a minimum of 2 hours notice.  Please check our website for updates.  
 
Refunds:  Participants may withdraw from a program at any time.  2 days notice will be required for a refund or activity transfer.
 
Equipment:  Minimal equipment will be provided for classes.  Participants will also be required to disinfect their equipment before and after use (disinfectant provided.)  Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment, including mats, towels, water bottles.
 
Washrooms:  Timms Community  Centre is not open to the public. Washrooms will be open to fitness class participants; however, there are no changing facilities- please come dressed in your workout gear!
 
Masks:  Masks are required in all City facilities and must be worn in all common areas, including entryways, hallways, stairways and washrooms. They are not required during exercise.

3. Select your classes - you may register for as many classes as you wish.  Payment must be made at the time of registration.
4. Select the payment method  - annual passes, credit card and credit on account payments are available for online registrations.

 Looking for ways to stay active and healthy at home?  The City of Langley Fitness team understands not everyone will be capable or comfortable returning to group fitness classes at this time.   Check our Recreation at Home page for at-home work-outs and activities for the whole family.

REGISTERED YOGA CLASSES

CHAIR YOGA (14+yrs)

This gentle form of yoga is practiced sitting on a chair or standing and using the chair for support.  Chair yoga is a great form of exercise for everyone as it deepens flexibility and strengthens body awareness no matter what your age or ability level.  This is an all-level class appropriate for those who have never taken a yoga class before as well as experienced practitioners.  Every pose can be modified to work for you.

GENTLE YOGA (14+yrs)

Gentle Yoga follows the principles of Hatha Yoga focusing on a healthy mind-body connection while going through the positions at a slower pace with gentle movements and mindfulness.  This class is appropriate for all levels- beginners welcome!  Classes will consist of breathing techniques, strengthening standing poses, floor work, stretching and relaxation.  Participants are encouraged to wear layers and bring a light blanket for the relaxation portion of the class.

REGISTERED TAI-CHI

TAI-CHI -Yang Style  (18+yrs)

Brought to you by the Fraser Valley Tai Chi Arts.  Instructor Travis Crombie is a 7th generation teacher of Yang style Tai-Chi with over 30 years experience.  This ancient Chinese exercise emphasizes slow, graceful, connected and flowing movements to help relax the body and mind.  Combining the calm of meditation and  subtle martial art movements this Introductory class will teach:

  • fundamental exercises to help loosen and relax the body
  • correct body alignments to help heal and repair joint, ligament and tendon problems
  • energy flow and breathing techniques know in Chinese medicine as Qi (Chi)
  • natural movements to develop strength, fluidity, endurance and body cohesion.

FIT FOR LIFE (18+yrs)

Fit for Life is designed for those with Osteoporosis or bone density deficiencies who are actively mobile and regular exercisers.  Following a low-impact warm up, participants will be led through a variety of strength and balance exercises using light weighs, fit-balls and body weight exercises.  This class does involve mat work- participants must be comfortable getting to and from the floor.  Flexibility and relaxation techniques are also part of the fun!

Weight Room is Open!

 

WEIGHT ROOM RESTRICTIONS:

  • Must be 16+yrs to use the Weight Room unsupervised
  • Youth 13-15yrs may use the WR with an adult supervisor (18+yrs); supervisor must stay within arms' reach of the youth and be actively participating in the workout session.
    • Youth 13-15yrs may use the Weight Room unsupervised if they have successfully completed the Teen Pump program


WEIGHT ROOM RESERVATIONS:

  • Each weight room session is 90 minutes; patrons may use the weight room anytime during their booked session- you do not have to show up at the start but will be required to leave at the end of the 90-minute session.
  • Participants may book ahead up to one week in advance.
  • Reservations may be done up to 2 hours prior to the timeslot. No drop-ins permitted at this time.
  • 48 hours cancellation notice (prior to booked date) is required for a refund.

Please do not arrive early for your reservation as the weight room will be closed for 30 minutes between each session for cleaning and disinfecting

Reservations are available online using your annual pass or credit card; all other forms of payment must booked over the phone or in-person.
 

WHEN YOU ARRIVE FOR YOUR SESSION:

  • Proceed directly to the weight room to check in with the weight room attendant anytime within your 90-minute time slot. Do not arrive early as you will not be permitted into the facility until your booked time.  There will be no in/out privileges, once you exit the facility you may not return until your next scheduled appointment.
  • It is recommended that masks must be worn indoors.
  • The underground parking lot will be open starting Monday July 19.
  • The weight room will be closed 15 minutes between each session for deep cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and surfaces.

REFUNDS:

  • Refunds or activity transfers are permitted with a minimum of 2 days notice prior to the reserved date.
  • Refunds will be credited to the customer’s account or directly to the credit card used for payment.
PERSONAL TRAINING

PERSONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS:  

Work with a certified BCRPA personal trainer to create a tailored fitness program to meet your specific needs and goals.  Personal Training sessions are one hour each and will include a fitness assessment, detailed program design, motivational workouts and support from your trainer.  Need extra motivation and support?  Book tandem training sessions and train with a friend or spouse!  Training sessions will be scheduled according to your availability so there's no excuse.... book your trainer today!

PERSONAL TRAINING- 1 PERSON

  • 3 SESSIONS -    $145 + GST
  • 5 SESSIONS -    $235 + GST
  • 10 SESSIONS -  $450 + GST

PERSONAL TRAINING- 2 PEOPLE (pairs must be at a similar fitness level to share training sessions)

  • 3 SESSIONS -   $218.00 + GST
  • 5 SESSIONS -   $353.00 + GST

HOW TO BOOK PERSONAL TRAINING:

1. Complete the Personal Training Package
2.  Submit your completed Personal Training Package to Reception at Timms Community Centre along with your payment.
3.  A Personal Trainer will contact you by phone to review your information and book your first appointment.
4.  Appointment times will be determined based on your availability and your selected trainers' schedule.

Please Note:  Personal Training packages are non-refundable.  There is no expiry date on your paid sessions.  All sessions are one hour long and maybe booked daily, weekly or monthly depending on individual needs.
