Public Notice: North Reservoir Water Main Flushing

Date
-

From October 15 to December 15, 2024,  city staff will flush the city's north potable water system.

Reason flushing water mains is necessary:

  • Removes Sediment: Sediment can build up in the water main over time. Flushing the water main helps clear the sediment, resulting in clearer and cleaner water.

  • Improves Water Quality: While water entering the system is of high quality, flushing helps maintain the water quality, removing impurities to the furthest reaches of the system.

  • Enhance System Operation: Flushing helps identify problem areas, improves water flow, and can extend the lifespan of the water system.

What to Expect:

  • During water flushing in your area, you may notice low water pressure or discolouration in the water. This is not a health risk.
  • If you see discoloration in your water,  run your cold water taps until the water runs clear.
