Notice of Public Hearing - Bylaw No. 3280 – Zoning Bylaw Amendment (Commercial Uses) - June 3, 2024 - 7pm

1.    Bylaw No. 3280 – Zoning Amendment (Commercial Uses - Child Care Centres)

Purpose:  To amend the Zoning Bylaw to incorporate a new 400 metre separation distance between child care centres within the specified area as shown on the map below.

Bylaw No. 3280 proposes to:

Add a 400 metre separation distance between “Child Care Centres” within a specified area to Part D “General Provisions”, Section 3 “Regulations Applicable to All Zones” as follows:

  • m)    Child Care Centres

    No Child Care Centre within the area outlined in the map below shall be located within 400 metres of any other Child Care Centre within the area outlined in the map below.

The proposed changes will not impact existing operating Child Care Centre businesses. If the bylaw is adopted by Council, these businesses can continue to operate and conduct business un-inhibited as ‘legal non-conforming uses’, subject to the applicable provisions of Division 14 - ‘Non-Conforming Use’ of the Local Government Act.

The proposed bylaw and staff explanatory memo may be viewed from Wednesday, May 15, 2024 to Monday, June 3, 2024 online by clicking: Bylaw 3280 Explanatory Memo and Bylaw 3280 or in person at the Development Services department at City Hall, 20399 Douglas Crescent, Langley, Monday to Friday, 8:30AM - 4:30PM, excluding statutory holidays.
