The City’s contractor (Lafarge) is scheduled to begin construction on a raised traffic island at 208 Street and Grade Crescent on Monday, October 5. The work is anticipated to be completed in 4 weeks, weather permitting. Construction will occur between 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday to Friday, and traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction, during work hours. Motorists should anticipate delays and, where possible, should consider an alternate route.
Once they begin contraction and after, there will be no through or left turns from traffic travelling East on Grade Crescent to 208 Street or traffic travelling West on 47 Avenue to 208 Street. The traffic island is being installed for safety reasons due to the increased traffic on 208th Street. Currently, left turns are required to cross two lanes of traffic and four lanes straight through.
