The City of Langley has received a Development Permit Application for the property located at 20359 Langley Bypass (see map below). The development permit would authorize a 1499.11m2 commercial addition to an existing large-format furniture store. The addition to the existing building is to be constructed on currently unused paved land at the back of the property, extending out to the north and west property lines. The eastern half of the site will remain undeveloped to account for Jeffrey Brook and its required Streamside Protection and Enhancement Area..
The issuance of the development permit is governed by Part 14 of the Local Government Act and the guidelines contained in the City’s Official Community Plan (OCP).
Langley City Council will consider comments from members of the public on whether this application is sufficiently consistent with the applicable development permit guidelines, as contained in the City’s Official Community Plan bylaw, at its regular meeting on December 6, 2021. Persons wishing to provide oral or written comments are advised that Council is limited to only considering how the development permit guidelines should apply to the property and the project.
The land use, density and other zoning regulations for the property have already been established in the Zoning Bylaw and are not under consideration as part of this development review process.
As a measure to facilitate council meetings in the safest manner possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, Council meetings are being held by electronic means as permitted by Bylaw 3193, Langley City Council Procedure Bylaw.
