Initiative focuses on assisting seniors in establishing & achieving their fitness objectives

Langley City, BC – The City of Langley is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated return of the Choose to Move program, a collaborative initiative in partnership with the BC Recreation and Parks Association and the University of British Columbia's Centre for Hip Health and Mobility. This free, personalized 3-month program is set to run from September 16 to December 9, encouraging individuals to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle.

Choose to Move is designed to cater to older adults seeking a tailored approach to physical activity. This unique initiative offers participants the opportunity to work one-on-one with a certified activity coach to create personalized action plans, aligning with each participant's specific needs, interests, goals, and abilities.

The program employs a science-based approach, aimed at making fitness enjoyable and adaptable by seamlessly integrating into participants' daily routines. "Being active is one of the most important things you can do to maintain your overall health. Being active can help you feel better, be stronger, and keep your independence," emphasizes Christine Daum, City of Langley Recreation Supervisor.

Choose to Move extends its support beyond individual consultations. Participants will benefit from regular motivational group meetings and consistent check-ins with their dedicated activity coach. These components collectively contribute to a holistic support system, ensuring participants stay on track and motivated throughout their journey toward a healthier lifestyle.

To kick off the enrollment process, prospective participants are required to attend an information session, which will take place at the Timms Community Centre (20399 Douglas Crescent) on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:30 am. Spaces are limited, so interested individuals are encouraged to pre-register promptly to secure their spot. Pre-registration options include:
