Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Payroll and Benefits Supervisor to work in the Corporate Services Department.  The Payroll and Benefits Supervisor is responsible for processing and administration of all payroll and benefits for 3 employee groups in a unionized workplace, including year-end reporting, reconciliations and T4 processing.  The incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgment and action with more complex problems or policy matters discussed with a supervisor. 

RATE OF PAY:   Pay Grade 23:  $34.23 to $36.26 per hour

HOURS OF WORK:    35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

The successful candidate will have a Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification and considerable knowledge of financial accounting systems and computer applications as they relate to accounting and payroll.   Considerable knowledge of payroll, related legislation, benefit plan coverage and municipal policies as they relate to payroll and the collective agreement and management pay plans are also required. The ability to perform detailed analysis and to prepare a variety of complex financial and statistical reports under tight deadlines is also required.  Previous experience in local government and familiarity with municipal services and software programs such as Microsoft Office, Unit 4 (Agresso), eDocs DM Document Management Systems are desired.  Details of the positions and the requirements can be found in the job description.

Applications are invited for a Regular Full-Time Cashier/Typist in the Corporate Services Department.   This position is a combination of moderate to high complexity clerical and limited complexity bookkeeping functions.  The Cashier/Typist is responsible for daily entering and reconciling cash receipts and making up bank deposits, receiving and processing payments, maintaining, posting and preparing billings for commercial water users, maintaining the property master files including preparation of bank documents , tax prepayment plan, parking rental system, dog licence and business licence systems and commercial water accounts.    

RATE OF PAY:            Pay Grade 16:  $28.50 to $29.89 per hour

HOURS OF WORK:    35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

The successful candidate will have completed grade 12 and will have several years of cashiering experience in a computerized environment or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Previous experience in local government is desired with thorough knowledge of the Homeowner Grant Act and its regulations and of the Tax Deferment Act and its regulations and procedures.  Familiarity with municipal services and software programs such as Microsoft Office, Tempest, and eDocs DM Document Management Systems are desired. Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of IT Support Technician to work in the IT Division of the Corporate Services Department.  Under the direction of the Manager of Information Services, the IT Support Technician will be responsible for providing technical assistance to staff using the City’s network, computer workstations and phones.  The IT Support Technician also performs periodic and routine software installation and upgrades as well as the implementation of new equipment and systems.  Additionally the IT Support Technician monitors system functions to verify correct operations, detect errors and resolve problems. 

RATE OF PAY:           Pay Grade 22:  $33.29 to $35.12 per hour 

HOURS OF WORK:   35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Completion of a technical diploma in Computing and Information Technology plus two years related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experienced is desired.   Additionally, training and/or experience with VoIP phone systems, cellular phones, other mobile communication devices, virtual servers, Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange Servers is desired. Microsoft Certifications and related training will be an asset.  Applicants should have strong, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.  A Valid Class 5 drivers’ licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.  Details of the position and its requirements can be found in the job description.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, Parks and Environment, the successful applicant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Parks Operations Division which includes the vision, planning and directing of construction, maintenance, repair and landscaping of parks buildings, facilities and playgrounds.  The ideal candidate will have experience with safety, workplace procedures and parks infrastructure management; a proven record managing in a unionized environment; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  We are seeking a forward-thinking individual who is responsive to the public, has strong planning, budgetary and financial management skills; and construction and maintenance experience in municipal parks operations or a similar environment.  Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.  Details of the position and requirements can be found in the job description.

Qualifications for this position include a University degree or diploma in a related program and a minimum of five years’ related experience, preferably in a municipal environment.  A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License is required.
