Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Arborist to work in the Parks Operations Division.  Under the direction of the Manager of Parks Operations, this supervisory position is responsible for manual work and exercising independence of judgment and action in all phases of tree maintenance as well as general Parks operations duties.   

RATE OF PAY:                 $34.68 per hour 

HOURS OF WORK:        40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

The incumbent will have considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in arboriculture and of the hazards and proper safety precautions applicable to the work.  A Certificate of Qualification as a Field Arborist is desired. Registration as a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arborists or the ability to obtain registration and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License are required. Applications are invited for the Regular Part-Time (35 hours per week) position of Recreation Worker 4 (Recreation Leader) to work in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department.  Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and implementing a variety of social, cultural and recreational activities for Youth.  
 
RATE OF PAY:              $23.61 to $25.23 per hour 

HOURS OF WORK:     *35 hours per week (Monday to Sunday); 
                                       Tuesday                                     11:00 a.m. -    7:00 p.m.
                                       Wednesday, Thursday, Friday     1:00 p.m.  -   9:00 p.m.
                                       Saturday                                      2:00 p.m. -  10:00 p.m.
                                     *These hours will vary depending on programming and special events.

Applicants should have strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer service skills. A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License and First Aid Certificate is required.  A Diploma or Certificate in Recreation from a recognized Community College, and previous experience working with a broad age range of youth in a recreational setting or a combination of training and experience are desired.  Additionally, completion of High Five training, Foodsafe Certification, experience working with Social Media (Facebook, Twitter), maintaining webpages and Adobe Design Suite and a valid Class 4 B.C. Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Building Maintenance Supervisor to work in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department.  This is a supervisory janitorial and semi-skilled technical position that requires considerable independent judgment and action in supervising janitorial operations and in coordinating building and mechanical maintenance services at all buildings owned and operated by the City. The Building Maintenance Supervisor maintains and monitors computerized mechanical control systems, establishes and implements preventative maintenance programs, maintains computerized security access system, performs a variety of minor plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry maintenance and repairs, prepares operating budgets, and arranges and monitors contract services.  

RATE OF PAY:                Pay Grade 24:  $35.82 to $38.07 per hour 

HOURS OF WORK:      *35 hours per week 
                                      *Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; 4:00 p.m. to Midnight
                                      *Saturday and Sunday; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The successful candidate will have Grade 12 supplemented by Building Services Worker Certification, Emergency First Aid Certification, WHIMIS training, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification, thorough knowledge of WorkSafeBC Regulations, a valid class 5 BC Drivers license, and a trade certification plus sound related experience in building maintenance operation including supervisory janitorial experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
