Applications are invited for Engineering Workers for Temporary Full-Time and Casual assignments in the Engineering Operations Division of the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department.  The successful candidates will perform a variety of manual duties including water, sewer and storm installation, repair and maintenance.  Road construction and maintenance tasks and other physical duties may also be assigned. 

RATE OF PAY:              $29.08 per hour

HOURS OF WORK:     Temporary Full- Time hours are 40 hours per week 
                                     Casual hours are up to 40 hours per week 

Temporary Full Time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid vacation and become eligible for benefits after 6 months of continuous employment.  Casual employees are paid 12.5% of their regular earnings in lieu of all benefits.   

The successful candidates will have Grade 12 plus experience in general construction and maintenance. A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License is required. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check before commencing employment.  Details of the position and its requirements can be found in the job description.

Applications are invited for Parks Workers for Temporary Full-Time and Casual assignments in the Parks Operations Division of the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department.   Parks Workers perform a variety of manual duties in the maintenance of floral areas, turf, sports fields, playgrounds and related areas and the maintenance and minor repairs of park buildings.

RATE OF PAY:              $29.08 per hour

HOURS OF WORK:     Temporary Full- Time hours are 40 hours per week 
                                     Casual hours are up to 40 hours per week
                                     (Primarily Monday to Friday, but some weekend shifts may be required)

Temporary Full-Time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid vacation and become eligible for benefits after 6 months of continuous employment.  Casual employees are paid 12.5% of their regular earnings in lieu of all benefits.   

The successful candidates will have Grade 12 plus experience in general construction and maintenance of parks and other landscape work.  B.C. Parks industry related training is desirable.  A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License is required. Langley City is a progressive and well-led organization and has an attractive career position available for Assistant Manager of Building and Licensing.

Reporting to the Manager of Building and Licensing, the Assistant Manager of Building and Licensing is responsible for supervising and participating in the work of the Permit Services, Inspection Services and Business Licensing functions.  The successful candidate will supervise the permit application process and operations relating to the inspection of buildings and property to ensure compliance with applicable drawings, Codes, Bylaws, and regulations.  Additionally the successful candidate will coordinate and supervise work related to the Board of Variance, ensure the proper investigation of Bylaw and Building Code violations and will provide interpretations of City building and zoning regulations, building permit processing and related matters to the public and other Departments.  The Assistant Manager is also responsible to develop training for inspection staff to ensure business license applications are processed in accordance with existing building regulations, as well as supervision of the Plan Checker/Inspectors. 

Graduation from a program at an Institute of Technology in building technology or trades qualification combined with at least 8 years’ work experience and BOABC Level 1 Plumbing Official Designation or the ability to obtain Level 1 certification within 2 years of employment is desired.  A current Level 3 Building Official Certificate from the Building Officials’ Association of B.C. and a valid Class 5 B.C. Applications are invited for the Temporary Full-Time assignment of Intermediate Accountant to work in the Corporate Services Department.  Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Corporate Services, the Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for preparing quarterly budget forecasts, reconciling accounts and preparing financial statements, assisting in the preparation of year end working papers for audits, handling all accounting operations and for preparing and maintaining records, statements and returns.  The successful candidate will exercise considerable independence of judgment and will have considerable knowledge of the applicable accounting rules and regulations, policies, systems of internal control, accounting methods, practices and procedures and financial systems and computer applications.  The assignment begins June 24, 2019 and ends July 19, 2020 and may be extended. 

RATE OF PAY:                Pay Grade 27:  $39.21 to $41.85 per hour 

HOURS OF WORK:        35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Temporary Full Time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid vacation and become eligible for benefits after 6 months of continuous employment.  

Enrollment in or completion of the CPA Professional Education Program, or a combination of training and experience, including experience in in budget analysis is desired. Details of the position and its requirements can be found in the job description.
