Langley City has all the amenities of any urban centre in very close proximity: great shopping, 300 acres of parks, world-class educational institutions, and entertainment facilities. Skytrain has been approved to be extended to the City within the very near future.

Applications are invited for a Regular Full-Time Engineering Technologist to join our Engineering Services team. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, the successful applicant will provide technical support primarily in development engineering and secondly in traffic engineering and other related works as required.

Some of the key responsibilities of this position include:
•    Reviewing subdivision/development engineering design submissions;
•    Drafting preliminary development engineering requirements;
•    Compiling and completing engineering servicing agreements for subdivision, development permit, rezoning, OCP amendment and other related project tasks to ensure compliance with applicable by laws and requirements of the City pertinent to land development activities;
•    Completing inspections on work performed ensuring compliance on development related construction projects;
•    Responding to public concerns related development projects;
•    Performing engineering tasks related to traffic and transportation;
•    Assisting in planning, conducting and preparing terms of references for traffic studies encompassing accident analysis, safety, parking;
•    Preparing and conducting the traffic count program;
•    Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, policies and procedures; and
•    Undertaking related duties as required.

RATE OF PAY:            Pay Grade 29:  $43.54 to $46.30 (2021 C.U.P.E. rates)

HOURS OF WORK:    35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

The incumbent will have considerable knowledge of engineering principles and practices including transportation and traffic.  A Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a field relevant to the position from a recognized institution and 5 years’ experience in municipal engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desirable. Experience in traffic and transportation programs, and management of traffic engineering software applications such as Synchro would be an advantage. Registration or eligibility to be registered with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians Association of B.C. and a valid Class 5 B.C. The City has one of the most active industrial and service commercial land bases found in the Lower Mainland.  

Langley City is recruiting for regular full-time positions of Firefighter; an opportunity to join a progressive and innovative fire department.

•    NFPA 1001 Level 2 Certification 
•    First Responder Level 3 with AED and Spinal Endorsements or Emergency Medical (EMR) Responder or Paramedic License (BLS or ALS)

Hours of work are an average of 42 hours per week, Monday to Sunday. Starting rate of pay is $33.18 per hour (IAFF 2021 rates). Our comprehensive benefits package is included.
